Major Work Duties
Essential Job Functions

Safety
1. Train technicians in safe work practices.
2. Must demonstrate safe work practices at all times.
 

QAD  -  Using QAD to monitor production reporting for accuracy (ie. downtime codes), look for trends and areas for improvement.

Work Schedule
1. Assists TF Shift Supervisor in meeting and exceeding efficiency and productivity metrics.
 
Production Goals
1. Responsible to meet daily/weekly/monthly shift production goals in regards to productivity and efficiency.
2. Recommends new methods and best practices designed to improve efficiency to TF Shift Supervisor.
3. Communicates and works closely with various departments to follow up on needs and issues as needed (ie. Extrusion – material issues, Maintenance – major machine repair, Tooling – tooling issues and adjustments)
 
Quality   
1. Responsible for checking for quality issues in products both at the start, end and during the shift and by monitoring periodically through the shift.   
 
Training
1. Completes training in a timely manner as directed by TF Shift Supervisor or Dept Manager.
2. Provides hands on training (by example) as needed with new and current technicians.
3. Conducts technician training/cross training in equipment operations, work procedures, and safety.
4.. Handles behavior modification and coaching/mentoring opportunities as needed on the shop floor.
 
Reporting Responsibilities
1. Provides daily reports to TF Shift Supervisor or Dept Manager as directed. People Responsibilities
2. Team Engagement of shift Technicians. Process Improvement
3. Will provide assistance to TF Shift Supervisor in suggestions and processes to improve the efficiency and productivity of the equipment and machines.  
  
Communication
1. Responsible for frequent and ongoing communication with all machine technicians, TF Shift Supervisor and Department Manager.
 
Qualifications:
1. 5+ yrs experience in a technical role such as equipment machine technician or equipment maintenance.
2. 5+ yrs Thermoforming experience required.
3. Math and basic computer skills including Microsoft Office email, data entry and QAD.
4. Experience in a leadership role with team engagement is recommended.
5. Certified Plastics Technician (SPI/SPE) is a plus.
6. Attendance is critical to the success of the position and must be able to work up to 7 days a week or variable schedules both in peak and nonpeak season.
7. In depth experience in thin-wall, high speed thermoforming plastic processes with a min of (3-5 years) is preferred.
8. Works closely with setup to ensure efficiency and effective transition for efficiency and continuous improvement objectives.
9. Manage, direct technicians and perform housekeeping on equipment as needed.
 
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee maybe exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Proper PPE is required.
 
Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time and walk distances, as well as stoop, bend, kneel and crouch. •
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, reach or feel and manipulate objects or controls. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. •
Be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. •
Must be able to work in fumes and odors (non-hazardous).
Must be able to work with oils, grease and dust, with limited personal protection (aprons, gloves, etc.) •
Must be able to work in loud areas and wear hearing and eye protection. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Weekend, overtime and evening hours may be required depending on business conditions.
