Major Work Duties
 
Essential Job Functions

Safety
This position is also responsible for safe work practices using both propane and electrical tow motors in the course of their duties.
Additionally, must be able to use the grinders safely.
-Responsible for inspection of parts for quality defects or unacceptable product. Sample part is available on each line for comparison.
-Work in a safe manner observing all safety rules and guidelines including PPE. 
 
Quality
Also responsible for identification of type of scrap or nonconforming material for both transportation and disposition through grinding process.
Any issues with quality, grinding or back flushing should be immediately directed to technician or supervisor
 
Data Entry
 must be able to perform accurate data entry of backflashes into QAD system and accurately record #’s of ground material.
 
Packaging-
Responsible for Counting and Packaging parts as defined on the product master which is hanging on the line. Is also responsible for preparing boxes and keeping supplies replenished that are needed for packaging. Also responsible for providing empty skids and movement of full skids of finished product, non-conforming material, scrap to the appropriate area.
 
Housekeeping-
Responsible for good housekeeping in the department.
While waiting, you should be cleaning, this includes any activities required to maintain a safe and clean environment. (i.e. sweeping, mopping, wiping down equipment, etc.)
Responsible for maintaining and keeping tow motors and grinders in a clean and safe working order.
Any issues with tow motors/grinders should be immediately reported to supervisor.
 
Recycling-
Responsible for identification and transportation of scrap and nonconforming material into the appropriate receptacles and or areas.
May also be responsible for grinding of product identified for recycling.
 
Communication
Responsible for communication to prior and subsequent shift coworkers regarding issues with running job.
Responsible to remain in position on the shop floor until shift replacement arrives.
 
Additional Duties
perform any other duties requested by supervisor including participating in cross training activities.
 
Qualifications: Education-
High School equivalent or GED is preferred.
 
Experience-
Previous factory or packing experience preferred. Previous grinding experience is helpful.
 
Certification
Must have certification, previous forklift experience or be in LPC cross training program and become LPC certified within 30 days of placement into position.
 
Attendance- Attendance is critical to the success of the position and must be able to work up to 7 days a week or variable schedules both in peak and nonpeak season.
 
Communication -
Ability to communicate with supervisor and coworkers in a calm and professional manner.
 
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job,
the employee maybe exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
Proper PPE is required.
 
Physical Demands

• The employee must frequently lift and/or move more boxes of up to 30lbs on a regular basis.
• The employee is frequently required to sit or stand for long periods of time and walk distances, as well as stoop, bend, twist, turn, reach, pull, kneel and crouch.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, reach or feel and manipulate objects or controls.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• Be available to work as schedule/business conditions dictate.
May be scheduled 7 days a week.
• Must be able to work in fumes and odors (non-hazardous).
• Must be able to work in loud areas and wear hearing and eye protection.
• This position is subject to temperature fluctuations in the plant especially during times of extremely hot and cold weather outside.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Weekend, overtime and evening hours may be required depending on business conditions.
